Holy Water

Malta's "Beach Commandments"

I: God created one sea. There is no other sea but it. So take care of it and of every creature that lives in it;

II: Protect your body from damage. Do not stay in the sun without protection;

III: A disabled person has the right to enjoy the sea and the beach as much as anyone else. They can only do this if their needs are catered for;

IV: Show respect for those around you when you are on the beach. Keep quiet because noise will bother others;

V: Do not kill. Speed boats and jet skis can kill. So obey the law when you are close to a beach;

VI: Do not throw waste onto the beach or into the sea. This is an insult to the environment and a lack of respect to others;

VII: Do not steal. Owning a private beach is theft. Beaches should be enjoyed by everyone;

VIII: Do not lie. Everyone has the right to information on sea quality. This information should be comprehensive, easily understood and readily available;

IX: Everyone has a right to enjoy the beach and the sea without hindrance or temptation. Show consideration when it comes to behaviour and clothing;

X: Do not desire others' belongings. Everyone has the right to leave one's things on the beach without fear of them being stolen.
